A Psalm of USMLE Deliverance

A Prayer for Deliverance From the USMLE Step I

Dear Lord,

Hear me in my trouble, and give ear to my request

My enemies surrounds me; they question me and I cannot respond.

They demand answers, and I am silent.



I had lost heart; I had fogotten the God of my Salvation.

But Thy light broke through; it pierced the clouds of my anxiety

And then I remembered:

Thou art a God of Deliverance!

When thy servant sought to help the poor in Mexico, Thou didst show him Dr. Tamez

When thy servant sought to expand his program there, Thou didst show him Maclovio Rojas

Thou hast delivered thy servant from the hand of the College Board, and from the hand of the AAMC;

Thou shalt deliver him from this uncircumcised USMLE.



Thou hast guided my feet on high paths and through ivy halls;

I pray thee, lead me into a Residency in which I may prosper.

Take me to a place where I might best learn to relieve suffering,

Where I might follow in the steps of Thy Son, the Great Physician.



Equip me to be a trained soldier like Joshua,

that I may drive out darkness from the land,

defeating Thine enemies: Depression, Anxiety and Addiction.



Make me a mighty deliverer like Moses,

that I might free Thy people,

that I might break their psycic chains.



Dear Lord, be my strength and my shield tomorrow,

Amen
